Aaron Ahlquist is an associate with Herman, Herman, Katz and Cotlar, LLP. Mr. Ahlquist attended the University of Wisconsin where he majored in Political Science and International Relations, spending his junior year at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. After receiving his B.A., Mr. Ahlquist spent three years on the legislative staff of Senator Paul Wellstone (D-MN) in Washington, DC. During his time with the Senate, Mr. Ahlquist focused on issues and legislation relating to health care, judiciary and crime, international relations and human rights.
Mr. Ahlquist left Capitol Hill to attend the University of Richmond - TC Williams School of Law, where he received his Juris Doctor in 2004, with special honors and awards in labor and employment law. Following law school, Mr. Ahlquist moved with his wife and children to New Orleans, Louisiana.
Prior to joining Herman, Herman, Katz and Cotlar, LLP, Mr. Ahlquist practiced in the areas of union and employee side labor and employment law, complex and commercial litigation, and class action and mass tort, spending three years working on the FEMA Formaldehyde Products Liability Litigation relating to FEMA trailers following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
Mr. Ahlquist is licensed to practice law in the states of Louisiana and Tennessee, and is licensed to practice in all Federal Courts in the State of Louisiana and the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. Additionally, Mr. Ahlquist has submitted briefing to the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Ahlquist maintains memberships in various professional organizations including the Louisiana State Bar Association, Louisiana Association for Justice, Tennessee State Bar Association, Federal Bar Association, and American Association for Justice.
Outside of the legal field, Mr. Ahlquist is a founding member of the Delta Discussion Group, a cross-disciplinary colloquium focused on the regional response to the BP Oil Disaster. He is also involved in his synagogue's young professionals organization and brotherhood, and is the starting pitcher on its softball team.
